SUBSTITUTE DECISION MAKERS AND WHAT THEY KNOW
As much as I enjoy making my own decisions, there have been a few times I was unable to. I was at the mercy of my parents. I finally got legal documents stating who I wanted to be as my substitute decision-maker. You may think, "I'm young. I don't have to worry about that at my age!" Think again. I have been in the hospital multiple times and needed my best friend to make my decisions before I was ever married.
Who will decide if you end up hospitalized in a car accident? How will
the staff know if or what your religious beliefs are? How about social or cultural? Even my parents don't know
all my medications or allergies.
So, what should you do?
The vendors across from me had a 12-year-old, almost 13 - Gavin. He became my hands and feet at around 11:00 am, and later, he came and sat at my table! With his dad's approval, I gave him one of my workbooks! I also had Halloween candy to give away for free!
After 19 years of marriage, we are still going strong! Two of the chapters in my autobiographies and workbooks are around relationships.
I participated in the ISAAC FOUNDATION craft fair on July 24
in the City of Millwood. I love helping any group of people that allows individuals with intellectual disabilities and making money at the same time.

A COMIC STRIP THAT OTHER AUTHORS
WILL APPRECIATE
Join me Saturday, June 19, 2021, on Clubhouse from 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm PST. I will be having a live chat about how to gain freedom and maintain independence. I will answer as many questions as possible during the time allotted; if you can't be there and want to ask me a question, email responsiblyindependent@yahoo.com with the discussion title.

On this unusual 4th of July, I want to encourage EVERYONE, including those with profound disabilities, to register to vote AND TO VOTE! Everyone DOES matter! Including those who have disabilities!
Nobody ever says, "When I grow up, I want to have a divorce." By filling out my workbook before you get married, you save yourself from much pain by discovering how compatible the two of you are. There are many areas of life to check for.
These areas are financial, social, emotional, mentally, and spiritual. Can you accept each other's differences? Can you take each other's career choices? I was engaged three times, and I broke off two of them. The third time he broke it off because the timing was off. We remained good friends and decided that we were still in love and chose to get married a year later.

COVID-19 is a season for dependence. We depend on others
to be healthy when they are in public. We rely on those who are sick to stay home. We depend on mail personnel and delivery personnel to get things. We depend on our elected officials to make wise decisions so that we can get out sooner rather than later.

SAD NEWS FROM SPOKANE/SPOKANE VALLEY
All of us vendors were jazzed and ready to go for the December 7 craft fair, but tragedy struck. The head lady said, "Vendors were calling and harassing the location where we were supposed to have the craft fair." She did this once before, but I wasn't affected by that one. Even if it was going to be rescheduled, we all took a financial hit by not getting
to do the craft fair before Christmas time!
We are all extremely frustrated, and I hope you will stay the course with me. I'm sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you. If you want signed copies of my books as gifts, you can contact me via the contact page on my website or Facebook Messenger. I'm reducing the cost by $2. However, I have to charge $4.95 for S&H. I can't afford to. Thanks for understanding. Tiffani

FAITH, HOPE, LOVE
At the craft fair on November 23, I saw these plaques about faith, hope, and love. I agree that everything is possible when you have faith in God! I had faith God would lead me to finish my books. My books are a "labor of love" to assist others to be and continue to be as independent as they choose to be. I hope that the people who need this information will find it!

HOW BOOKS WERE CONCEIVED
"A Journey to Independence" and "Growing Independent" were
birthed from people who had disabilities asking me the same questions over and over again. Before I finished the books but was too far along to change course, I was getting feedback that my books would be excellent
for young people, victims of violence, and people in recovery.

MAKING MISTAKES
People think making mistakes is terrible. Truth be told, if you never make mistakes, your successes won’t be as sweet. Mistakes teach you what not to do. Successes teach you what to do again.

BEING SAFE
The older I get, the safer I try to be! Damsel
in Defense had a ton of products to keep an individual safe. I strongly encourage you to look them up online. If you see something
you want and would like to get it in person, find out where a Damsel in Defense representative will be. I introduced it at an
HS crazy fair three years ago...

EXPANDING HORIZONS
I'm more interested in sharing my message of helping others gain their independence than I am in writing another book. Therefore, I joined a toastmasters group at Lighthouse for the Blind on Wednesdays. It's from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.
Yesterday was my first meeting, and I had a blast. They served snacks which included peaches and cookies. No wonder my husband enjoys working there. If work is as much fun as I had today, I'd consider paying
to be a fly on the wall to listen to the humor - especially Eli's humor.

FUN DAY ADVENTURE
Very chaotic. First, we were curious if we'd be able to take everything. We were. It was sunny and windy. We purchased a used awning at a garage sale (an adventure in itself). Just before we were ready to pack up, someone else's canopy flew into ours, putting a few inches of tear in it, breaking the frame in several places, and leaving it for garbage. I need to find out what
the cause of the problem was. I thought the wind caused the damage because Eli stepped between the flying object and me. The owners of the offending awning reimbursed us for our awning.
By the end of the event, I had handed out many biz cards but had yet to sell any books. A couple of ladies who work for an agency that works with youth with Special needs/abilities took some of my cards and said they'd speak to their boss. Talking to each other, they said something about a few where they work. (BTW - no one was injured by the flying awning! PRAISE GOD)

DISABILITY POPULATION NEEDS YOUR HELP
My books are written for people who have disabilities. The federal government is now writing a law to increase the disability population's independence. Right now, when someone with disabilities gets married, they lose some of their benefits. IF HR 1529 passes, that would no longer be the case. Especially those with a strong belief in God won't have to choose between getting married and honoring their faith or living together and being financially comfortable. If you believe in the institution of marriage, please call your federal representatives and tell them you support HR 1529. Thank you!
Tuesday, June 25th at 10:30 am - 11:00 am, City Councilperson Mike Fagan is going to do a telephone interview with me, but will edit it before airing it. His show is on 9:00 am and 9:00 pm a few days a week. It’s an American, Christian show. Stayed tuned to find out when it airs.

RELATIONSHIPS
What kind of people do you like? Do you have habits that your partner needs to be able to live with? Are there habits you are unable to live with? Can you and the other appreciate the other‘s occupational decisions?
How much can I afford to pay? Do I need or want roommates? Where would I like to live? More questions listed in my workbook.
Do you know your family history re: alcohol, smoking, or vaping? Before you CHOOSE to do either one, know addiction risks. Also, find out if doing these things will jeopardize your health or any job you may desire.
What’s your way of getting around?
Walking, biking, city bus, disability van, driving, Uber, taxi, etc? Does it change by how you feel or how far you go?
Do you have boundaries or standards? If so, can you explain to yourself why those are your boundaries? If you don’t have boundaries or standards these books are for you. If you are unable to explain your
boundaries to yourself these books are for you? If life could be more organized in your head, these books are for you?
"The people have spoken and they all agree,
Tiffani Harvey knows what she is talking about!"
"Reading Freedom Seeker" is a journey into the mind and heart of a disabled person. What you find there might surprise you. Tiffani Harvey is more than a freedom seeker. She is a seeker of truth. What comes through in this book is a person of strength and integrity. One who has not only found wisdom but has also devoted her life to living within its boundaries. One who lives her beliefs and strives, despite her limitations, to help others reach their own potential. Tiffani's insistence on maximizing her freedom and her tireless determination to live her best life set an example for every type of reader. This book is excellent for anyone seeking advice about liberty, wisdom, integrity, fortitude, and love." --Vicki J.
"I wish every girl in high school could read these books. Women in shelters should read them. What a difference that would make!" --Ellen
"The author takes the reader on an in-depth journey of her life & the not-so-easy choices. She mentions resources that better the lives of the disabled." --Esther, Former President of SASP
"I am so proud of Tiffani for writing her book to help others & get it published! She inspires me to continue writing my memoir and is always giving me hints & tips."--Linda S., Secretary of SASP
"I live in the apartments where Tiffani lives. My struggle is mental illness. I was in bed with depression. She is the only person that called or came to visit me. This is what her books are all about - helping others. She has covered many topics, and she has beneficial information. She also has a workbook. She is very positive and confident. You almost forget that she has restrictions. Reading her books not only blesses you but helps you bless others." -- Gloria P.
"My family is so happy with books. My ten and 12-year-old says these books have answers to various questions in life, and they guide someone in making the right choices since it talks about the disadvantages of various questions and how to deal with them. They love these books."-- Daudeti from Uganda
"Suggestions in Freedom Seeker" are good suggestions for EVERYONE." Ken R.
"These books are written to help disabled people function in this complicated world. It's hard enough for the non-disabled to do, sometimes. So, you can imagine how difficult it can be for the disabled. Whether they have someone to help them function or on their own, Tiffani's books can help. She has listed a lot of agencies or places that can assist the disabled population, to help them function in society. Things to stay away from and ideas to help them stay safe. She makes it easy to find the topic that interests you. She also has a workbook so that you can record your progress." --Judy S. and Del S.
"I am writing wannabe, i knew when I first met Tiffani Harvey at an author's luncheon--she's the real deal. She was the life of the luncheon announcing her upcoming book signing. I was impressed. At the next luncheon, Tiffani showed me her books Freedom Seeker and Freedom Seeking. The titles touched my heart and ignited my desire to soar on eagle's wings. So, I bought them. I have recently listened to her professionally made Audiobook, A Journey to Independence. I loved it. Tiffani started with her desire to overcome the limitation she was born with. The stories of her life and family warmed my heart. Talk about courage; what a courageous and determined young lady.
I'm a senior citizen. As such, I have my own set of limitations. Her book ignited the embers deep within me to overcome my limits. She inspired me and spurred me onto success. All of us in life have our own set of limitations. Please read her book. She encourages you to do your best in the most accessible and independent possible. What an incredible journey! The end of the book was so beautiful. It was my favorite part. Tiffani explained her choice to become a believer in Jesus. She describes how she accepted Him as her personal Savior. I thought, wow! She is a theologian too. I gained insight as she explained what it means to be born again. Listening to her book makes me aware that God gives each of us the life to live. We honor our Maker by living that life to the fullest. Tiffani does that, and her book inspires me and others to do the same." --Sidney H.
"Tiffani has written a simply useful guideline to [let] those who have disabilities know that they are not alone when making important decisions on their welfare. Congratulations on sharing these steps with those who seek out your wisdom."--
Beverly J.
"The books you wrote are interesting, informative, and great reading. The blanks in [Freedom Seeking] are for the people who have to think about the questionnaire in the book."-- Dannette P.
Tiffani Harvey is a lifelong resident of the state of Washington. She, who was born with multiple disabilities, has an innate strength driving her to question the automatic assumptions of authority, which diminished her natural quest for independence and self-reliance in the name of 'protecting' herself from perceived threats: based on outward appearance. She grew in her struggle to achieve autonomy and became an active advocate for those beginning their journey.
With grace, compassion, experience, and solid practical advice in "A Journey to Independence," Tiffani reaches out to empower others by helping them to identify and answer the critical questions and challenges at every stage of their walk to freedom by casting a light on her struggle while empowering individuals. People who love and care for them with remarkable insight that can only arise from meeting personal challenges head-on and succeeding!
